Rain Gauge

Our Rain Gauge comes fully assembled and ready to mount. The 1-Wire counter is already installed inside the rain gauge under the blue cap – there is no need for further assembly. Mounting the Rain Gauge is very straightforward. The Rain Gauge needs to be mounted on a level platform away from obstructions. It can then be secured to the platform with the screws mounted inside the cover.

Included with your Rain Gauge is 60 feet (approximately 20 meters) of cable. This should be sufficient to reach your 1-Wire network. To connect the Rain Gauge to your 1- Wire network, simply plug the end of the cable into a 1-Wire RJ-45 jack. If you prefer not to use the RJ-45 connector, you can cut it off. The exposed copper wire is the data line and should be connected to a Hobby Boards DQ screw terminal; the silver-colored wire is the ground wire and should be connected to a Hobby Boards GND screw terminal. For more information, please see our general discussion of Connecting Devices to the 1-Wire Network.

The Rain Gauge is factory calibrated, and does not need further adjustment.

This device does not require and cannot use external power.

Specifications:

  • The 8" diameter collector meets NWS specifications for statistical accuracy
  • The resolution is 0.01 inch
